Deck railings are a necessity
We definitely need covered deck railing. In most cases, the deck railings are necessary due to building codes. If they will not follow building codes, then you need to realize that you are installing for some of the painful consequences, including lawsuits, fines, and more. Simply adding railings your deck, you can save yourself unnecessary harassment and financial loss that may occur. The lower railing height required by building codes is sometimes the corner cut some people and there are some reasons why it is not safe.
Railings and Construction Codes
Codes construction are different depending on where you live, but most of them have a law that says if the deck is more than 3 feet above the ground or other horizontal surface, that there must be a way to protect against falls. A wall is an acceptable way to protect the fall, but a wall can be an obstacle in sight. This is a very expensive way to meet building codes and does not mean that one is safer than rail would.
Deck Railing Options
Security is the main reason for the deck railings, but also can add character and visual interest to your deck and home. You can even create an unusual search using colored railings that attract attention. There are several different materials that can be used, including wood, PVC, aluminum, or a combination materials.
Railing Requirements
In the installation of railings, you need two things in mind. These things are:
1. Balustrade Height: It is usually dictated by building codes for their particular area. The height is usually at least 30 inches, but check with your local city or commission to State-building to ensure that your rails are the correct height.
2. Construction railing: Depending on building codes, you must put their messages at intervals that are dictated to you. A handrail must be adequate with a few different components, including a bottom rail, vertical rail and a rail top. The bottom rail railing helps the most complete look. The vertical rails must be spaced so that a child can not get through the gate. A railing above may be of one piece or two and that are used to give additional strength to the structure of the rail and attach to the vertical. This is the part that sees the most wear out of hand and time.
